Accreditation process to improve cancer care at Skåne University Hospital

Lund BioImaging Centre

Skåne University Hospital is in a process to establish a Comprehensive Cancer Centre.

A digital site visit by the Organisation of European Cancer Institutes (OECI) took place 22-24 June, 2021 as part of the accreditation process to establish a Comprehensive Cancer Centre at Skåne University Hospital. OECI has an accreditation programme to implement quality in cancer care. Skåne University Hospital Cancer Centre (SUCC) is established in collaboration with Lund University (and LUCC), the Regional Cancer Center South (RCC South), Laboratory Medicine, and Palliative care in Primary care.

The digital site visit was preceded by an extensive qualitative and quantitative self-evaluation about management and leadership, prevention and early diagnosis, cancer care, research, teaching and continuing education, and patient centeredness. In addition, improvement plans and requested documents were also submitted as part of the self-evaluation. The site visit will be followed up by a peer-review and a report before an accreditation and designation certificate can be issued.
