Clinical trials & diagnostics
Clinical trials are the gateway through which innovative treatments and diagnostics become available to patients. Furthermore, diagnostics and biomarkers are an integral part of translational research within clinical trials, clinical studies, and analyses on patient tissues and samples. Although a large fraction of cancer patients in Skåne are part of biobanking initiatives and research utilizing cancer registries and clinical data, a minority of patients are included in interventional clinical trials.
The LUCC Clinical Trials & Diagnostics network is meant to be a hub for expertise, collaboration, and innovation in clinical trials and translational biomarker research. By connecting clinicians, researchers, and industry partners, the network aims to accelerate progress from discovery to patient benefit.
The purpose of the Clinical Trials & Diagnostics network is to:
- Create a collaborative platform for clinical trialists and translational researchers to connect and freely exchange ideas, share expertise, and form new partnerships – both within academia and also with industry.
- Expand patient access to clinical trials and increase enrollment, ensuring that more patients in our region can benefit from the latest therapies and diagnostics.
- Increase the number, diversity, and quality of cancer clinical trials conducted within SUHCCC/LUCC, including both investigator-initiated and industry-sponsored studies.
- Strengthen translational research by enhancing the use of clinical samples for biomarker discovery, diagnostics development, and personalized treatment strategies.
The LUCC Clinical Trials & Diagnostics network organizes regular meetings, symposia, and seminars, fostering both scientific exchange and new collaborations (see LUCC calendar). To learn more or get involved, contact the network co-leaders, Mats and Lao.
