Grants to researchers from private donation and LUCC strategic funding

Several staples of coins

Several calls within LUCC have been open during Spring 2022 in different areas - innovation, nursing & rehabilitation and pancreatic cancer (private donation). The awardées were presented during the LUCC retreat which took place on 5 May 2022 in the Skåne University Hospital Lecture Hall in Lund.

Charlène Estrada, Postdoctor, with the project "Study of cancer-associated fibroblasts heterogeneity and extracellular matrix changes in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma" received the private anonymous donation in pancreatic cancer corresponding to 300,000 SEK.

Two exploratory innovation grants were awarded to Johan Bengzon, Adjunct Professor, for "Cellular Reprogramming as a Treatment of Glioblastoma: Bringing a Novel Concept to Clinical Use"  and Maria Alvarado Kristensson, Senior Lecturer, for "Development of a novel cancer therapy targeting one of the most affected pathways in cancer". Both received 300,000 SEK each.

In the third call about nursing and rehabilitation, the grant of 300,000 SEK was awarded to Marlene Malmström, Reader for the project "Screeningbased individualised rehabilitation in primary breast cancer: The ReScreen study"
